Engineering/Construction Technology
Today, more than ever, the sweeping global changes and the need for diverse and intelligent infrastructure in urban environments call for new approaches to infrastructure construction projects. Whether in tunnel construction, pipe jacking, or pipe rehabilitation; in foundation work for bridges or buildings; or in securing Pits - in all these tasks, the Max Bögl Group applies its high level of expertise to the construction challenges at hand, thereby ensuring the preservation and development of a new location or even an entire region. The complexity of these often massive infrastructure projects requires thorough planning and close coordination among the various divisions of our group to achieve our clients’ goals - in terms of quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery - to their complete satisfaction.
Tunnel Construction
Tunnel construction is one of the most fascinating yet challenging tasks in the construction industry. Numerous projects across Europe—such as the tunnels on Deutsche Bahn AG’s new rail lines, road tunnels for highways and bypasses, tunnel renovations on existing structures, and the inner-city subway and commuter rail systems operated by public transit agencies, demonstrate the versatility and complexity of modern tunnel construction.
With its Tunnel Construction division, the Max Bögl Group has a competent and efficient construction department that implements customer-focused projects from bid preparation through the Execution of work to successful handover. Supported by state-of-the-art digital applications, lean construction methods, and an established continuous improvement process, we implement standardized and quality-assured project management. The foundation of our success is our motivated staff in both office and field roles, who possess the necessary technical expertise—including that from our own geotechnical department—as well as the capabilities of our transportation and equipment, formwork technology, and technical planning divisions within our corporate group.

Special foundation engineering
Although in most construction projects the work performed by the specialized civil engineering sector is no longer visible once construction is complete, these measures are indispensable for the subsequent progress of the project. After all, Special foundation engineering forms the foundation for many structures associated with Building Construction and civil engineering, such as Pits, tunnels, bridges, and much more. The application of complex techniques and the selection of appropriate equipment require increasingly specialized knowledge and practical experience.
Over more than 30 years of specialization in the field of specialized civil engineering, Max Bögl has also steadily expanded its range of services and adapted to the changing demands of the construction market. Today, the group of companies has at its disposal a powerful combination of state-of-the-art machinery and highly qualified employees who take on any challenge in special foundation engineering, both domestically and abroad. With a broad range of services, including excavation shoring, foundations, stabilization, grouting, groundwater lowering, and the jet grouting method, Max Bögl carries out projects of all sizes and levels of difficulty as a general contractor or Subcontractor.

Pipe Jacking
The underground installation of pipes accounts for an ever-increasing share of modern sewer, pipeline, and utility line construction. Partly dilapidated sewer and utility systems in cities, combined with increasingly dense development, are creating a growing need for trenchless installation methods that preserve the surface and minimize disruption to urban traffic and the surrounding environment.
With technical expertise and in-house machinery manufacturing, Max Bögl’s Pipe Jacking division offers technical and cost-effective solutions in all areas of modern pipe jacking—including trenchless methods that minimize surface disruption and associated emissions. All necessary machinery, ranging from simple manual excavation to high-tech full-cut technology, is developed, designed, and manufactured in-house, or adapted and modified on-site to meet project-specific requirements.

Ground Freezing Technology
In all ground freezing projects, engineers take advantage of the fact that frozen soil has significantly higher strength and is also impermeable to water. Ground freezing technology is characterized by high safety standards and, consequently, high reliability. No chemical residues remain in the soil after the freezing process; the frozen soil mass thaws completely once the process is complete, thereby preventing any permanent alteration of the aquifer.
The Max Bögl Group possesses modern and field-proven equipment technologies as well as specialized personnel with many years of experience in executing complex ground freezing projects. The interdisciplinary collaboration among various specialized fields—such as refrigeration technology, plant engineering, tunnel construction, civil engineering, and special foundation engineering—enables us to develop and implement innovative solutions. As a result, ground freezing is increasingly becoming a flexible and economically attractive construction method for our group of companies.

Structural Repair and Mastic Asphalt Waterproofing
Our infrastructure consists of a wide variety of structures made of concrete or steel. These materials are constantly exposed to environmental influences and external mechanical stresses and are therefore not permanently durable. As a result, regular maintenance and extensive preservation of transportation structures are the norm. Maintenance significantly extends the service life of these structures. Max Bögl addresses these needs with a competent and experienced team.
The group has over 40 years of experience, as well as the necessary specialists and expertise to correctly identify and assess the complex causes of damage and to repair the damage. Our employees possess the technical expertise and necessary qualifications to carry out the execution of repair work using high-quality materials and machinery, on schedule and in accordance with industry standards. In addition, we advise building owners and architects on the development of suitable concepts, procedures, and techniques for repairs.
